MY STORY
Hello, I'm Marloes ♡
I'm an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) originally from the Netherlands, now based in Singapore - where I get to do what I love: supporting families through breastfeeding and infant feeding, at home and worldwide via teleconsultation.
THE FACE BEHIND MAMAGROVE
Inspired by Singapore's tropical mangroves, Mamagrove supports you while you nurture your baby
"Mangroves are living ecosystems of resilience, nurturing new life while standing strong through every tide."
They flourish in tough conditions, offering protection, balance, and quiet strength. I created Mamagrove with that same intention: to support the delicate ecosystem of early motherhood with gentle, professional, and evidence-based lactation care.
My breastfeeding journey
I've been an adventurer since the age of 18, living in Corsica, Guatemala, Paris and Malaysia, before eventually settling in Singapore in 2014 with my French husband. A large part of my early career was in brand marketing, supporting businesses with strategy and rebranding.
That changed in 2018 with the birth of my son, Olli. My breastfeeding journey was intense: bleeding nipples, thrush, multiple bouts of mastitis and an abscess with MRSA. Along the way, I met healthcare professionals who meant well but did not always help, from deep, painful breast massage to being advised by a breast surgeon to stop breastfeeding. Many of these experiences could have been avoided.
After days of painful engorgement, I met a lactation masseuse whose gentle touch brought both physical relief and emotional calm. That moment sparked a deep drive to offer mothers the care I wish I had received. It led me to years of study, hands-on clinical training, and ultimately becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Over the past eight years, I have supported 1500+ families with challenges including latch difficulties, mastitis, blocked ducts, milk supply concerns, tongue tie, bottle refusal, pumping challenges, and feeding support for premature babies. My work is hands-on and grounded in current lactation science and clinical experience, while remaining deeply empathetic, something many parents have shared made them feel truly seen and supported.
