Bringing sanctuary to motherhood

Hello, my name is Marloes,

I'm originally from the Netherlands, and I've been an adventurer since I was 18! I've lived in several countries, worked summer jobs in Corsica, volunteered in Guatemala, and even met my French husband while working in Paris. In 2014, we moved to Singapore and loved it so much we stayed for eight years. My passion for brand marketing led me to help multiple companies with their rebranding and marketing strategies.

But everything changed in 2018 when my son Olli was born.

Our breastfeeding journey was a rollercoaster! I faced a bunch of postnatal issues and became a regular at the hospital. From bleeding nipples and thrush to latching problems, engorgement, and multiple bouts of mastitis, I saw it all. I also encountered some less-than-helpful specialists—a lactation consultant who used her knuckles for massages, an infectious specialist who kept me on antibiotics, and a breast surgeon who told me to stop breastfeeding. Later, I discovered that a lot of this could have been avoided.

After days of severe engorgement, I finally found a lactation masseuse who worked wonders. Her massages relieved my pain and helped me feel at peace.

Inspired by her, I dove into traditional Lactation Massage training and also completed certifications in ITEC Holistic Massage Therapy, USUI Reiki Practice, and Orthomolecular Nutrition.

For the next two years, I helped many families with their breastfeeding challenges and decided to become an IBCLC Lactation Consultant. I trained as a Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Breastfeeding Mothers Support Group in Singapore and completed 700 practice hours with IBCLCs Marieke van Luin and Sanne Koeman in Amsterdam. I graduated in June 2024.

I am working along with Marieke van Luin from Mammaminds, and you can find me in the cosy practise of Amstermam Westerdok 808.
