An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a healthcare professional specialised in breastfeeding and infant feeding. As an IBCLC, I look at feeding as a whole: your baby, your body, your milk supply, and feeding techniques, and together we create a clear plan to address your challenges. I offer follow-up support for up to two weeks, so you can return to your breastfeeding or infant feeding journey feeling well-informed, supported, and confident.
Yes you can book me for a prenatal or postnatal lactation consultation at home in Singapore. Through online consultations I support parents worldwide with questions that do not require a physical lactation consultation. You can also follow Mamagrove on Instagram for the latest insights and updates on breastfeeding and infant feeding.
Yes, most of my clients are about to deliver or just delivered their babies. I will visit you at home to help you with any breastfeeding or infantfeeding challenges you may have. Being in your own space allows me to observe feeds, pumping, and daily routines in a practical and realistic way, so the support fits your life, not the other way around. A consultation is usually about 90 minutes which allows me to assess your baby, your body, your feeding techniques and anything else that may arise.
Yes. I offer online lactation consultations worldwide. Many feeding challenges can be supported effectively online, including pumping support, return-to-work planning, milk supply concerns, and general breastfeeding guidance and emotional support.
In a clinical context, lactation massage refers to gentle, superficial techniques applied to the breast tissue and informed by lymphatic drainage principles. The aim is to reduce tissue swelling and support comfort by encouraging fluid movement just beneath the skin, rather than applying deep pressure to the breast or milk ducts.
Lactation massage can be helpful when parents experience late engorgement, blocked ducts, or early signs of mastitis, where swelling of the surrounding tissue is contributing to discomfort or impaired milk flow. It should never be painful and is always offered within the context of a full lactation assessment.
Lactation massage is not a routine treatment for normal early postpartum engorgement, nor is it used forcefully to “clear” milk ducts. In my practice, it is used thoughtfully and conservatively, alongside feeding support, observation of milk removal, and a clear follow-up plan to reduce the risk of recurrence.
In the early stages of mastitis, gentle lactation massage can help reduce tissue swelling and support milk flow by addressing inflammation in the surrounding breast tissue. It is never used forcefully and is always guided by what the breast tissue can comfortably tolerate.
Equally important is taking a holistic approach by looking at the underlying contributors to mastitis, such as milk removal patterns, feeding or pumping techniques, pressure on the breast, rest, and overall recovery. Addressing these factors is essential to reduce the risk of recurrence.
I closely monitor symptoms and guide parents on when additional medical care, including antibiotics, may be needed. Safety, clinical assessment, and evidence-based care are central to my approach.
Yes. I regularly support parents with pumping, optimising pump settings, building a pumping routine, and creating a realistic return-to-work feeding plan. The goal is always to make it flexible and feasible for you!
I support expectant parents, new parents, and seasoned parents. This includes families breastfeeding full-term or premature babies, combination feeding, exclusively pumping, or navigating more complex feeding journeys.
